Utilizing members as "child and family education aides" and mentors to parents, AmeriCorps members will perform three basic functions: 1) implement developmentally appropriate early childhood lessons and activities following the Scholastic curriculum, the Letter People, and other lesson plans; 2) facilitate parent-child together activities including making home visits focused on parenting and how toys that parents make in class are used by parents at home to teach children through play; and 3) help parents learn English, supporting project-based learning and ESL best practices, and tutor/mentor them to achieve GED diplomas and employment.

The Court Youth Center’s (CYC) philosophy of arts-integration and positive youth development provides students the opportunity to extend creative learning and boost achievement in a safe, drug free environment.
CYC offers programs both in-school and after school throughout the year in partnership with the Alma d’arte Charter High School that is housed at CYC and the Gadsden School District’s Middle School. All program activities weave positive youth development into an arts-integrated, career-focused curriculum that incorporates hands on meaningful applications of literacy, visual, performing, and culinary arts.
The program educates AmeriCorps Member Artists in the practice of arts integration to instruct middle and high school age youth in a number of arts endeavors throughout the year in after-school and in-school programs.

Earth Care International (Earth Care), is a non-profit organization committed to educating and empowering youth to create a healthy, just and sustainable world. The Santa Fe Food Security Cadre (SFFSC) will support members in developing a model sustainable food system that increases local self reliance and the availability of healthy food for working families while reducing our community's carbon footprint. The primary goals of the SFFSC are to: 1) Improve access to healthy local food for working families in Santa Fe 2) Reduce food related CO2 emissions and improve energy efficiency; 3) Provide food nutrition education for young people; 4) Develop and retain young skilled labor force; and 5) Increase youth leadership, civic engagement, and academic engagement.

The Opportunities with AmeriCorps for Reentry Success (OARS) program is designed to improve literacy and prepare offenders to reenter society. OARS will utilize national service participants to address the public safety issue of recidivism while providing real-world professional training, experiences, and learning opportunities in an effort to build their capacity, foster civic responsibility, and instill an ethic of service. National service participants will help decrease barriers to employment and education for persons with felony convictions. For instance, as education reentry specialist national service participants will help offenders with family reunification, cognitive education, reentry services, career resources and general education.

AmeriCorps Cultural Technology (ACT) creates unique service learning activities to meet the critical needs of non-profit Cultural Institutions. Cultural Technology (CI) is an emerging field that intersects cultural content and new interactive digital technologies to enhance and extend the availability and use of collections of CIs on-site and remotely. ACT will enhance the capacity of CIs by having skilled interns working with them to develop and improve their exhibits and online presence. These improvements in turn will help CIs share resources and reach new audiences.

New Mexico School for the Deaf (NMSD) utilizes AmeriCorps members to promote signed language development of deaf children who have limited exposure to language models in their homes and communities. The AmeriCorps program places Signed Language Models in rural locations throughout New Mexico to teach signed language to deaf children, their families and their school communities. This program will address the need to expand high quality school-based service-learning in New Mexico as a strategy to enhance civic engagement, academic achievement and positive social behaviors among K-12 students. Year 1 will focus on designated schools in the greater Albuquerque, New Mexico area, with statewide replication to be explored in subsequent years.
